Krav Maga Classes (Adult 18+)
Adult Krav Maga Program (Stoneham, MA)
Our adult Krav Maga classes run Monday through Thursday, and on Saturdays, and are located at our training center which is less than 5 miles from the center of Stoneham, Massachusetts. We have both morning, lunchtime, and evening classes, to give a large number of training opportunities to our students. We have two membership rates: $155/month, for full-time students, first responders, serving military and veterans, and $185 for regular membership. This gives unlimited access to our classes and includes gradings and access to our online program. There are no long-term contracts with cancellation simply requiring one month’s notice.
Our program is suitable for men and women aged 18 plus. Whilst our adult Krav Maga classes are physical, they are structured in a way that caters for an individual’s fitness level. If you have concerns about your fitness, you will get a good idea at the intensity we train at by attending one of our beginner classes, as everything is slowed down in these, as the focus is on teaching you the core concepts and principles of Krav Maga, and the standard drills we use in our classes.
Our classes our 30-minutes in length, and can be combined to create various training options e.g., somebody could come for a 6:00 pm and a 6:30 pm class, creating a 60-minute training session, or they could come for a 6:30 pm and a 7:00 pm class to create a 60-minute training opportunity, or they could join a 6:00 pm class and stay for the 7:00 pm class, training for 90-minutes etc. One of our goals is to make training in Krav Maga as flexible as possible e.g., if you work/live in Stoneham, Massachusetts and want to train in your lunch hour we have classes at 12:00 pm that would accommodate that. Our classes are generally broken down into the following sections. We start by “warming up” with what Krav Maga refers to as fighting games. These are non-injurious drills/games that develop real-world fighting skills such as how to control and manage range/distance dynamically, how to move effectively and efficiently, and how to block strikes using natural reflexive movements. We then usually engage in some form of pad work using focus mitts, kick shields, and Muay Thai pads etc., to help develop and hone striking abilities e.g., how to punch, kick and strike with power and accuracy etc. After this we look at different scenarios that may or may not call for physical solutions, and illustrate and train responses to those that do e.g., how to escape, holds, strangulations, chokes and grabs etc.
We also have sparring classes where shinpads and gloves are required. Students are eligible to take part in these classes as soon as they become members of the school, however initially they are only permitted to engage in the drills and training methods we use and aren’t allowed to initially free spar. This means that they have the opportunity to build and develop the skills and abilities they need for free sparring to be a productive experience. We never ask our students to do anything that they aren’t yet capable of, and they always have the right not to spar even when they are able to e.g., they might have an important business presentation the next day, and don’t want to be overly tired from a sparring session etc. We understand that our adult students are professionals who are fitting their training into their professional, social, and personal lives, and we don’t want to adversely affect these etc.
